KISS management 1

Every manager, who thinks about perfect organization, would like employees' thoughts and words about their work would turn into real results. But often results are not achieved or they are not such as it was expected.

 

We will examine the reasons of good ideas to be unrealized, of their path, barriers, which prevent from achieving the goals. Barriers graphically could look like this:

„THOUGHT -> -> -> -> -> -> -> RESULT" barriers:

1. Thoughts are not oriented towards achievement of organization's goals/results in the most effective way.
2. THOUGHTS/IDEAS are not delivered VERBALLY (because of fear, distrust, direct attitude of the director).
3. Crucial WORDS/INFORMATION are "lost", remain UNHEARD.
4. Heard/read words remain MISUNDERSTOOD.
5. The understood information, does not always create INTENTION TO ACT, work, respond.
6. For internal and external "brakes" (let's say, we want to act, but we lack: willpower, power, budget, health, good mood and etc.) INTENTION does not become ACTION.
7. For internal processes and external influence of organization, ACTION underway does not always become expected RESULT.

 

Barriers between ideas and results

First of all, there are many barriers, which prevent from the coming of words:

  • - uncertain, chaotic minds;
  • - inadequate morphological skills to express minds;
  • - lack of courage to express minds;
  • - fear to remain misunderstood
  • - daily concerns, which prevent new ideas from coming, and other.

 

If we manage to make our employees speak, it does not mean yet, that their ideas will be heard, that ideas will not be lost in complicated structural labyrinths. So other category of barriers is related to listening skills.

 

Even if SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, heard SOMETHING, still there are not many chances, that they understood. Barriers of understanding are related to the aspects of attitude, work and management culture, experience, knowledge, personal skills and other.

 

Understanding does not mean that idea will be accepted. Causes of rejection may be different - from aspects of technical offer to such as your age, outfit or belonging to social group and similarly.

 

Eventually you are heard, understood, not rejected - you just need to start working, but...

 

Team starts to consider, hesitate. Team members hold tight to their positions, but do nothing realistically-just imitate work. When pressure is taken away, such people go back to their primary status.

 

Finally we practically achieve, that our colleagues would start working, operating while achieving set goals, but all time we needed to move from word to action was too long. Situation changes (inside and outside markets of an organization) faster than capability to change thinking and attitude. This is the reason why actions do not provide expected result. Many subjects become obvious for employees only when project is over.

 

Decrease of barriers

While trying to release mind, people should examine more their nature and internal senses, evolution of very self and the relation with the environment. Such self-examination should help to realize, where "matrix" came from (Barrier No. 1) - samples of thinking and actions, which prevent free movement of energy.

 

To overcome other barrier we will need to spend more time in a library, communicate with other employees and observe our potential and weaknesses of speech, define ideas. Also more complex communication technologies need to be developed - it means to transfer thoughts "from half a word" or even without words - through distance of 100 or even    10 000 km - in other words, to develop extrasensory skills.

 

There are many books written about attention from audience (3rd barrier), preservation of attention and development of intensiveness of listening. In practice many tricks are used, which are distinguished easily by an experienced lecturer. Methods can be supported by hysteria and soothing - it depends on influence we are expecting audience to get.

 

While seeking to reduce barrier of understanding (No. 4), we will need to try to communicate in a way for a group of employees could accept and understand, but not to make our language too simple. Here it is very important to ensure constant feedback from listeners. Frequent mistake of leaders is a question „Is everything clear?", cause rarely employees hear this question directly. 2

 

Employee‘s intention to act (barrier No.5), implement ideas depend on physical, psychological state, internal and external motivation of an employee.

 

The beginning of actions (barrier No. 6) will depend on the time, material and intellectual resources, which will be given to the employee, also on whether the project, intermediate and final results are clearly stated.

 

Result will depend on influence of all named barriers, required time, internal and external factors of an organization (barrier No. 7)
