Dear readers,
Being a member of an academic community I would like to spread my joy concerning the fact that more and more people have opportunity and determination to continue the studies and improve their education after graduating secondary schools. Studies are becoming more accessible due to the possibilities to study abroad and the number of higher education institutions in Lithuania. The number of students is increasing not only in Lithuania but also in the rest of the world. Based by the UNESCO records, the number of students over the last 40 years increased by 500% – from 32 million at the year 1970 up to 165 million at the year 2009.
If you wish for your studies to be purposeful and not to go astray – which, by leaving your Alma mater – high education institution, would get you a satisfactory job that would make you a valuable member of society, you must choose good quality studies meeting the current market needs.
Higher education quality concept (study aspects, meeting the public needs, requirements and standards) and its components are clearly described in the:
- UNESCO program document ”Higher education in the Twenty-first Century. Vision and action”.
- EUA (European university association) standard.
- EPAS model (Higher management education accreditation program).
- Other models and documents.
ISO 9001 (IWA 2) and ISO 9004 standards are also suitable to improve internal study quality by helping to establish and integrate study and education institutions’ quality management systems.
